Type-Moon and French-Bread used the latest Type-Moon Times broadcast, held during FGO Festival 2026, to share a batch of new details on Melty Blood: TWI-LUMINA. One of the biggest reveals was Grand Scenario Mode, an all-new story mode written by Kinoko Nasu. Not much has been said about what the mode actually contains, but the developers did note that it will include a large amount of recorded dialogue.

The gameplay side of things also saw several updates. Players will now be able to pick between two different control styles. Act is aimed at newer players, offering simplified controls that let special moves come out with a single button press and dashing done with just a tap. Duel, on the other hand, keeps the traditional command-based inputs that longtime fans of the series are used to. Alongside this, the returning Rapid Beat combo system has been adjusted to allow for more combo routes than before.
A new mechanic called Gauntlet was also introduced. By using up the Lumina gauge, players can trigger a rushing attack strong enough to push through an opponent’s incoming attack and send them flying. As for when people will actually get their hands on it, Melty Blood: TWI-LUMINA will be playable to the public for the first time at Tokyo Game Show 2026. A demo will be set up at the Aniplex booth, running from September 17 to September 21. The full game is set to release in early 2027, with versions planned for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Switch, Switch 2, and PC through Steam.
