Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter is set to launch worldwide on September 17 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, publishers Nihon Falcom and GungHo Online Entertainment have announced.
The upcoming release continues the remake initiative of the beloved Trails in the Sky arc. As the direct follow-up to the first chapter’s remake, the second chapter advances the story of Liberl Kingdom while introducing new characters, returning fan favorites, and additional bonus content tied to regional pre-orders.
Japan Pre-Orders Include HD Remaster of the Original Game

In Japan, players who pre-order Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, or Nintendo Switch will receive a download code for a high-definition remastered version of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky.
This remastered version includes quality-of-life upgrades such as a high-speed mode and a text log system, making it easier for players to revisit the origins of the Liberl arc. However, this pre-order bonus will not be available for the PC via Steam version.
Uroboros Box Collector’s Edition Detailed

A premium Uroboros Box collector’s edition will also be released in Japan. This special package includes a themed case inspired by the mysterious Ouroboros organization and several exclusive items designed for long-time fans of the series.
The collector’s edition includes a copy of Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, a commemorative arranged soundtrack album titled Trails in the Sky Memorial Sound Collection, and a downloadable costume pack known as the Fluffy Sheep Mascot Set, which allows party members including Estelle and Joshua to wear themed mascot outfits.
Additionally, the set includes a Blu-ray version of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky THE ANIMATION – Timeless Edition, featuring multilingual subtitles and bonus commentary content. A Liberl Kingdom Complete Character Book is also included, documenting roughly 500 characters from across the first two chapters and offering deeper insight into the world and its citizens.
Save Data Bonus Costumes for Returning Players

Players with cleared save data from Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter will unlock special “Classic Style SC” costumes for Estelle and Joshua. These outfits are inspired by their original designs from Trails in the Sky SC, providing a nostalgic reward for returning players continuing the story.
Key Characters Joining the Story

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter expands its cast with several important characters who play major roles in the unfolding narrative across Liberl Kingdom.
Among them is Anelace Elfead, a newly promoted senior bracer and granddaughter of Yun Ka-fai, founder of the Eight Leaves One Blade swordsmanship school. Despite her cheerful personality and fondness for cute things, she remains determined to live up to her family legacy.
Kevin Graham, a traveling priest of the Septian Church, also appears with his relaxed demeanor and hidden motivations tied to his presence in Liberl. Meanwhile, Major Mueller Vander, a skilled swordsman from the Erebonian Empire, supports diplomatic efforts while maintaining close ties to Olivier.
Other notable figures include Captain Julia Schwarz, commander of Queen Alicia’s Royal Guard and captain of the advanced airship Arseille; Leonhardt, the powerful Ouroboros Enforcer known as the “Bladelord”; Weissmann the Faceless, the manipulative figure guiding Ouroboros’ operations; and Renne, a mysterious young traveler whose encounter with Estelle becomes increasingly significant as the story progresses.
Continuing One of the Trails Series’ Most Important Story Arcs

As the second chapter of the Liberl storyline, Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter builds directly on the events of the previous entry while expanding the political tensions, character relationships, and mysteries surrounding the Ouroboros organization.
With its global release set for September 17 across PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, the remake continues Falcom’s effort to modernize one of the most influential arcs in the long-running Trails series for both returning fans and newcomers alike.
