SILENT HILL f has made waves online since its release, not just for its new direction from the original franchise, but for its strong viral presence especially through streaming. A major part of this success comes from Konatsu Kato, the Japanese voice actress and model who plays main character Hinako Shimizu. Kato’s livestreams of the game have gained millions of views, and her struggles with the game’s difficulty may have even influenced NeoBards Entertainment to add more difficulty options.
Following Kato’s success, more cast members have started streaming the game themselves. The latest to join are Takeshi Masago and Tamami Hiraoka, who played Hinako’s father Kanta and mother Kimie. Masago mainly streams on his YouTube channel, with Hiraoka sometimes joining him to play, read comments from fans, and share insights about the game’s production.
Kato recently finished her first playthrough of SILENT HILL f on December 31 with a five-and-a-half-hour stream. Her complete playthrough totaled about 27 hours based on her uploaded streams.
Other cast members are at different stages of their playthroughs. Yuuka Iijima, who voices Rinko Nishida, completed the game in roughly 16 hours. Natsuki Osaki, who plays Shu Iwai, is currently 12 hours into his playthrough as he continues through Ebisuogaoka.
Beyond the actors, SILENT HILL f writer Ryukishi07 and some members of his 07th Expansion doujin circle also participated in a two-hour livestream. Their stream focused mainly on Ryukishi07’s commentary rather than gameplay. With most of the Japanese cast already playing or currently streaming SILENT HILL f, voice actors Nanako Mori (Junko Kinuta), Eri Goda (Sakuko Igarashi), and Kazuaki Yasue (Tsuneki Kotoyuki) may also join the trend.
