Xbox Game Studios and Playground Games have revealed Forza Horizon 6, the next entry in the popular open-world racing series. The game will launch in 2026 for Xbox Series consoles and PC through Steam and Microsoft Store, with a PlayStation 5 version coming later. It will also be available on Game Pass.
The announcement came during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2025 Broadcast, where a teaser trailer showed the game’s Japan setting. The trailer included references to previous Forza Horizon games before revealing the new Japanese world, featuring Mount Fuji, peaceful waters, urban areas, and cherry blossoms.
According to Playground Games, Japan has been the most requested location from fans for a long time. The country offers a unique culture covering cars, music, and fashion that fits well with the Horizon series. The development team believes they now have the technical ability and experience from previous games to properly represent Japan in the game.
While specific details weren’t revealed, the game will feature both natural and urban Japanese environments. Players can expect to see Tokyo City, described as one of the most detailed environments the team has created, along with rural and mountain areas throughout Japan.
Like previous Forza Horizon games, seasonal changes will play a major role. Japan’s dramatic seasonal shifts – including the famous cherry blossom season – will affect both how the game looks and feels. The team has created systems where seasons change the game’s tone, activities, and sounds.
