On first of November, Nintendo announced their BATTLE ROYALE online mutiplayer puzzle game, Tetris 99 will be collaborating with the other powerhouse that Nintendo owns, Pokémon Sword and Shield! Tetris 99 has been often played and they deserve some love.

If you didn’t know about Tetris 99, here’s a short brief about the game.

“Tetris 99 is a free online multiplayer version of the OG Tetris. The take of the game was to incorporate the popular genre, Battle Royale, into the game. Each round has up to 99 players competing simultaneously which will send “garbage rows”to other players with the goal of knocking them out of the match.”

We personally tried to play the game and it was a whole lot of fun! The intensity of how fast you can complete a row was really challenging.

Back to the news. Nintendo will be having their Tetris 99’s 9th Maximus Cup soon enough. With their announcement of collaborating with Pokémon, the cup will be rewarding players who earn over 100 points in the Maximux Cup a special Tetris 99 Pokémon Sword & Shield in-game theme. The cup will be held on the coming 8th of November 4PM JST till 12th  November 3.59 JST.

The effect looks very cool! When a player is defeated, the player will transform into a pokeball as if you catched the Pokémon that was displayed!
