The annual Tencent Game Developers Conference that was held on the 16th and 17th August had developers talked about the future of gaming and how cutting-edge technology plays a part in innovating the industry.
Tencent Game Developers Conference or TGDC for short is an annual event for global game developers, publishers and operators alike to share with one another their experiences and insights on the game industry. Organized by the Tencent Institute of Games, there more than 20 global game industry experts and scholars attended and had offered 17 keynotes that took forward-looking views on the games sector.
Vice president of Tencent Games and head of Tencent Institute of Games, Sammi Xia mentioned that “With the continuous technological advancement and innovative thinking, games are becoming a Hyper Digital Reality that could drive the advancement of cutting-edge technology and constantly create new values and possibilities.”
Sammi Xia had also stated that more game industry practitioners and professionals will band together by helping both the industry as well as the broader society to have a deeper understanding of video games and build up a better digitally oriented society together.
The main goal of TGDC was to cultivate the creativity, imagination, insight, technology, influence, and cohesion of the games sector together with the world’s top game practitioners, experts, and scholars. Attendees looked at the sector’s developments and future from five different angles – Product, Technology, Art, Indie Game and
Advocacy, hoping to broaden the boundaries and possibilities of the game industry.
Launched back in 2017, the Tencent Game Developers Conference has strived to build an open discussion platform for global game professionals, based on users’ insights and the needs. And by moving forward, TGDC will continue to serve the global game industry.
