CookieRun: OvenSmash is celebrating its Southeast Asian rollout with a distinctly local flavour. Iconic Malaysian favourites Teh Tarik and Onde-onde have officially debuted as exclusive localized in-game cosmetic items, marking a rare moment where Malaysian cultural staples appear in a major global mobile game release.
Developed by Devsisters, the update arrives alongside the game’s regional expansion across Southeast Asia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau, which launched on April 23.
A Global CookieRun Franchise Milestone with Local Representation

The CookieRun franchise has remained one of Devsisters’ most successful global IPs since its debut in 2009. Over the years, the series has accumulated more than 300 million players worldwide and collaborated with high-profile partners including BTS, Wicked, and K-pop Demon Hunters.
Its latest entry, CookieRun: OvenSmash, shifts the formula toward a fast-paced real-time multiplayer action brawler format. Following its global launch in March 2026, the game surpassed one million downloads within three days, quickly climbing mobile storefront charts in both the United States and South Korea.
Now, with its regional rollout underway, Malaysia is receiving dedicated localized cosmetic content that reflects its food culture on the international stage.
Teh Tarik and Onde-Onde Cosmetics Celebrate Malaysian Identity

To commemorate the regional launch, Devsisters introduced market-specific cosmetic items across supported territories. For Malaysia and Singapore, Teh Tarik and Onde-onde take the spotlight as collectible in-game accessories.
The Teh Tarik cosmetic draws inspiration from the iconic bungkus ikat tepi packaging style familiar across Malaysian kopitiams and street stalls. The design even recreates the distinctive tied plastic bag presentation, complete with colour-accurate string detailing.

Meanwhile, the Onde-onde cosmetic reimagines the beloved pandan-coated dessert with its signature palm sugar centre as a playful battlefield accessory. The result is a stylised but recognisable tribute to a traditional Nyonya delicacy.
Together, these cosmetics highlight the development team’s effort to incorporate authentic regional references into the global game environment.
Free Teh Tarik Cosmetic Available for Regional Players
Regional excitement around the game has already been strong. Since pre-registration opened in March, CookieRun: OvenSmash has surpassed one million sign-ups across Southeast Asia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.
To thank players for their support, Devsisters confirmed that the Teh Tarik cosmetic will be distributed free in-game, allowing all players to claim the localized item at no cost.
This move ensures that Malaysian players can immediately access one of the region’s signature cosmetic rewards as part of the launch celebration.
CookieRun: OvenSmash Expands Its Presence Across Southeast Asia

With its official availability now extended to Malaysia and Singapore, CookieRun: OvenSmash continues building momentum following its strong global debut earlier this year.
By introducing culturally inspired cosmetics like Teh Tarik and Onde-onde, Devsisters is reinforcing the game’s regional identity while connecting local players to one of the mobile gaming industry’s most recognisable franchises.
As a result, Malaysian players now have a uniquely local reason to jump into the arena and join the game’s fast-paced multiplayer battles alongside competitors from across the region.
