Team Ninja and PlatinumGames have officially announced Ninja Gaiden 4: The Two Masters, a major DLC expansion slated for release in early 2026. The announcement follows just weeks before the base game’s launch on October 21, 2025, marking the beginning of a new era for one of gaming’s most iconic action franchises.

In an interview with the Official Xbox Podcast, PlatinumGames producer/director Yuji Nakao and Team Ninja director Masazaku Hirayama confirmed that The Two Masters will continue the intense narrative of Ninja Gaiden 4, exploring the fates of both Ryu Hayabusa and Yakumo after the events of the main story. This post-game storyline will deepen the bond and rivalry between the two warriors, delving into the philosophies that define them as “masters” in their own right.
Hirayama described the DLC as “a lot of content for players to dig into,” teasing both narrative and mechanical depth. The expansion will also feature a suite of new endgame challenges separate from the Ninja Trials found in the base game, ensuring that veteran players will have plenty of reasons to keep their blades sharp long after the credits roll.
New Weapons, New Mechanics

One of the biggest highlights of The Two Masters is the introduction of new weapons for both Ryu and Yakumo, each with distinct qualities and gameplay systems. Ryu will wield dual pincer-like gauntlets, blending close-range ferocity with fluid motion that complements his agile combat style. Meanwhile, Yakumo will take up a massive scythe, a slower but devastating weapon that rewards precision and timing.
These weapons won’t just add variety—they’ll redefine how each character feels to play. Both tools integrate with the game’s Bloodbind Ninjutsu system, enabling players to dynamically transform their weapons mid-battle for devastating effect. Combined with enhanced combo routes and new animation sets, the DLC is shaping up to be a true evolution of Ninja Gaiden 4’s already blistering combat system.
Expanding the Legacy

PlatinumGames’ signature flair for cinematic action and Team Ninja’s reputation for tight, technical gameplay continue to complement one another in this latest collaboration. With The Two Masters, the developers aim to deliver a seamless blend of narrative weight and pure mechanical intensity—a hallmark of what Ninja Gaiden has always represented.
Beyond its gameplay and story additions, The Two Masters DLC will also be included as part of the game’s Deluxe Edition, priced at RM379. Players who purchase this edition will gain early access to the expansion once it launches, alongside additional in-game bonuses.
Ninja Gaiden 4 itself launches on October 21, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, and will also be available day one on Xbox Game Pass. With The Two Masters set to arrive shortly after in early 2026, fans can expect the saga of Ryu Hayabusa and Yakumo to continue in the most ambitious and brutal fashion yet.
