Publisher Broccoli and developer Gemdrops have confirmed that Etrange Overlord, a self-described “sushi lane musical action adventure,” will launch in Japan on March 26, 2026. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch, bringing a mix of music, strategy, and theatrical flair. On Switch, both physical and digital editions will be offered.
The standard edition costs 8,580 yen, roughly RM270, while the limited edition is priced at 12,980 yen, or about RM410. The limited edition package comes with a collector’s box, an art book, a three-disc soundtrack and vocal collection, a CD featuring the theme song, and a hololive collaboration costume for the character Sweetia styled after Tsunomaki Watame.
Story and Concept

The game tells the tale of Etrange, the daughter of a fallen duke who rises to conquer Hell. As she navigates the underworld, her journey unfolds on chaotic stages shaped by rotating sushi lanes. These constantly moving tracks deliver helpful items but also drop dangerous traps such as bombs, machine guns, and even gravity-bending devices. Players must use quick reactions and tactical thinking to survive, all while helping Etrange expand her influence and unify Hell under her command.
Gameplay and Strategy

Etrange Overlord mixes its musical storytelling with a variety of gameplay systems. Players not only control Etrange in battle but also lead her team of allies. Conquering enemy territory, quelling demon uprisings, and customizing the rotating lanes to fit different strategies form the core of the experience.
With more than ten playable characters to develop, each encounter offers flexibility in tactics and room for experimentation. The game encourages players to adapt, strategize, and make bold moves in pursuit of victory.
Musical and Dramatic Flair

Beyond the combat, the game sets itself apart with its theatrical approach. Fully voiced event scenes bring each character to life, while extravagant musical numbers transform the battlefield into a stage. This blend of humor, heartfelt drama, and over-the-top musical performances makes Etrange Overlord feel like a playable show as much as an action game. It is an adventure that invites players not only to fight but also to laugh, cry, and sing along with its cast.
Cast and Creative Team
The project features a notable lineup of talent. Kaori Mizuhashi voices Etrange, while hololive star Watame Tsunomaki lends her voice to Sweetia and performs the energetic theme song “Etrange Overlord.” The story is written by Kitayama Roman, with music composed by Noriyasu Agematsu of Elements Garden.
Shinichiro Otsuka provides character designs, and Sohei Shinkawa acts as producer. Together, the team aims to create a distinctive work that balances parody, spectacle, and emotional storytelling.
Conclusion
With its rotating-lane battles, dramatic storytelling, and musical spectacle, Etrange Overlord stands as one of the most eccentric upcoming titles of 2026. Fans in Japan will get their first taste of this unusual blend of rhythm and strategy when it arrives in March for PlayStation and Nintendo platforms.
