A popular Japanese Monster Hunter Wilds streamer has apologized to Capcom after wrongly suggesting the game broke his expensive gaming computer. M Hashi, who has a large following on YouTube and social media, initially claimed that Monster Hunter Wilds caused his 800,000 yen PC (about $5,000) to stop working.
His posts quickly spread across Japanese internet communities, adding fuel to ongoing complaints about the game’s poor performance on PC. However, after taking his computer to a repair shop, M Hashi discovered the real problem wasn’t the game at all.
The repair technician found that M Hashi’s PC was running at dangerously high power settings – around 460 watts – which caused his system to overheat. This happened because he had downloaded a BIOS update from the internet to try fixing his Monster Hunter Wilds crashes and frame rate problems. While the update initially helped, later game patches brought the issues back and eventually caused his PC to break down.
M Hashi’s gaming setup includes high-end parts like an Nvidia RTX 4090 graphics card, Intel i9-13900KF processor, and ROG Strix motherboard. He first thought his Intel CPU was to blame. However, downloading BIOS updates from unreliable sources likely made his problems worse.

After lowering his PC’s power settings, M Hashi can now play Monster Hunter Wilds safely. The repair person tested his system while running the game and found his CPU was still running very hot, which explains why the game performed so poorly for him. Interestingly, M Hashi didn’t have problems with any other games. He and other players are using this situation to highlight ongoing concerns about the PC version’s optimization issues.

Despite his frustrations, M Hashi has asked his viewers not to harass or threaten the game’s developers. The situation has gotten so bad that Capcom recently canceled a developer presentation and warned they will take legal action against people who violate their anti-harassment policy, including those making death threats.
