After months of leaks, Battlefield 6 was officially unveiled last week. But while fans were hyped to see the game in motion finally, the reveal felt somewhat flat, thanks in no small part to the flood of pre-reveal leaks spoiling everything from skins to battle royale maps.
One of the more surprising leaks came from reliable insider billbil-kun, who claimed that EA was planning to launch Battlefield 6 at €80. Given EA’s track record of limited regional pricing, that strongly hinted at a potential $80/£80 price tag across the board. Naturally, fans weren’t thrilled.
EA CEO Speaks Out: “No Dramatic Price Changes”
However, there’s now reason to believe Battlefield 6 won’t be as expensive as expected.

In a tweet shared by The Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley, EA CEO Andrew Wilson was quoted saying the publisher has “no plans to make dramatic changes in pricing for frontline games.” While he didn’t specifically name Battlefield 6, the message suggests that the rumored $80 launch price is off the table for now.

This clarification has eased concerns that EA might follow Nintendo’s lead in setting $80 as the new standard for major AAA titles. Nintendo, after all, recently priced The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom at $70–$80, depending on region, sparking industry-wide pricing debates.
$80 Games: A Growing Trend (That Might Be Slowing Down)

EA isn’t the only publisher to flirt with the idea of premium pricing. Earlier this year:
- Xbox reconsidered releasing The Outer Worlds 2 at $80.
- 2K and Gearbox were rumored to price Borderlands 4 similarly, though those plans stalled amid fan backlash.
It appears that only a select few franchises, like Call of Duty or Zelda, can get away with higher price tags without losing community trust. For now, Battlefield 6 seems safe from that trend.
While EA hasn’t fully confirmed the launch price of Battlefield 6, Andrew Wilson’s comments suggest it’ll stay in line with the usual $60–$70 range. That’s good news for fans looking to dive into the next big entry without breaking the bank.
Battlefield 6 is now available to wishlist on Steam.
