Strange Antiquities is expanding to new platforms, with publisher Iceberg Interactive and developer Bad Viking confirming the game will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 4 on April 30.
The occult-themed narrative puzzle title is already available on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, where it first released on September 17, 2025. It also serves as a standalone follow-up to Strange Horticulture, meaning players can jump in without prior knowledge of the previous game.
Step Into the Role of an Apprentice Thaumaturge

In Strange Antiquities, players take on the role of an Apprentice Thaumaturge tasked with managing a mysterious antiquities shop in the eerie lakeside town of Undermere. While the shop’s owner investigates strange disturbances elsewhere, the responsibility of identifying occult artefacts and assisting townsfolk falls entirely to the player.
Each day introduces new visitors with unusual requests. Players must carefully study artefacts using observation and reference materials, ensuring they provide the correct item for each situation. Mistakes can have serious consequences, especially when dealing with supernatural objects tied to dangerous forces.
Choices That Shape the Town of Undermere

The game places strong emphasis on decision-making. Players are not limited to helping customers; they can also choose to hinder them, potentially affecting relationships across the small community. Because Undermere is a tightly connected town, actions quickly influence how events unfold.
Beyond shop management, exploration plays an important role. Players will investigate rumours, recover artefacts from surrounding locations, and uncover hidden secrets tied to the building itself. Over time, deeper mysteries emerge surrounding the town’s connection to forces beyond the ordinary world.
Solve Mysteries, Explore Secrets, and Care for a Familiar Companion

While much of the gameplay revolves around identifying and cataloguing artefacts, Strange Antiquities also includes puzzle-solving elements tied to the shop’s history and Undermere’s hidden past. Players will gradually uncover secrets that suggest the town exists on the boundary between realities.
Alongside these responsibilities, players are accompanied by Jupiter, the shop’s resident cat, who requires regular attention throughout the journey. Though small in scale, this detail reinforces the game’s quiet, atmospheric tone.
A Spiritual Successor to Strange Horticulture

Although Strange Antiquities follows the success of Strange Horticulture, the developers describe it as a standalone story rather than a direct sequel. However, returning players may notice familiar characters, locations, and thematic connections linking the two experiences.
With its distinctive hand-drawn presentation, investigative gameplay structure, and branching choices, Strange Antiquities continues Bad Viking’s approach to slow-paced narrative puzzle design.
The game launches for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 4 on April 30, joining its existing availability on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
