STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT will offer more than just visual upgrades when it launches in 2026 with series producer Tatsuya Matsubara announcing at the WePlay Expo 2025 in Shanghai that the upcoming remake will feature a completely new ending in addition to the six routes from the original game.
According to Game*Spark, RE:BOOT builds on Steins;Gate Elite’s story rather than the original 2009 visual novel. Elite combined elements from the 2011 anime with new voice acting and animation for routes that weren’t covered in the show. STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT adds a seventh scenario on top of the original ending, bringing the total playtime to around 30-50 hours.

The new ending will include additional scenes with main characters Rintaro Okabe and Kurisu Makise, along with a new ending song by Kanako Itou. Itou previously worked on several Steins;Gate tracks, including the well-known “Skyclad Observer.”
During a Q&A session at the expo, Matsubara explained why the game was pushed back to 2026. The development team’s passion for the project led them to take on extra work, including a complete overhaul of the music and re-recording all voice acting. These additions caused the schedule to run longer than planned.

When asked about future projects in Mages’ SciADV franchise, which includes Steins;Gate, Matsubara confirmed that another title is currently in development alongside Re:Boot. However, no specific details have been announced yet. Steins;Gate Re:Boot is scheduled for release in 2026, with more information to be revealed later.
