Square Enix has just revealed a new trailer that focuses on the game’s villains, a new buddy and a handful of skills and action which will be in Star Ocean The Divine Force set to be released on 27th October 2022.

Vyrians

Gaston Gaucier (CV: Gakuto Kajiwara)

One of the three Vyriansthat appeared on Aster IV. His pallid skin is a shade between blue and violet, and horns adorn the top of his head. His soft glower is lit up, quite literally, by the blue light that glows from his eyes and arms. He is highly interested in D.U.M.A.

Lola Jornaus (CV: Hibiki Yamamura)

One of the three Vyriansthat appeared on Aster IV. Her pallid skin is a shade between blue and violet, and horns adorn the top of her head. She carries a firearm that could not conceivably originate from Aster IV. Lola anguishes over the fate of her hometown and hopes for a fresh start with Velanjand Gaston. She considers D.U.M.A. a dangerous threat.

Velanj Garfuul (CV: Satoshi Tsuruoka)

One of the three Vyriansthat appeared on Aster IV. His crew refer to him as “Colonel.” His pallid skin is a shade between blue and violet, and horns adorn the top of his head. His muscular physique and scarred face make him appear impulsive and headstrong, but he is the picture of composed and pragmatic. He targets D.U.M.A., who he calls the “eater of planets.”

Character

Malkya Trathen (CV: Yoko Hikasa)

Weapon: Brass Knuckles

The leader of the Trathen, one of the many races that live on the southern continent of Nihlbeth. Malkyais highly intelligent with a keen mind and intuition. Like all members of her race, her malleable body allows her to take any form at will.

With Nihlbeth being the fabled birthplace of semiomancy, magical practices are deeply entrenched in the culture of the Trathen. The continent once enjoyed fruitful diplomatic relations with Aucerius to further the study of semiomancy, but certain events led to the severance of those ties.

Malkya fights using a unique melee style. The Trathen people have shape-shifting, malleable bodies, allowing Malkya to whip enemies with her limbs. She can even learn a special move to share her HP with allies.

Character Growth system

Each playable character can be customized extensively. Gain enough experience and your characters will level up.

Improving Skills

Gain enough experience and your characters will level up, granting them SP. Use SP to strengthen a variety of skills at your disposal, or learn entirely new abilities from the Skill Tree.

Skills

There are three kinds of skills that you can learn. While Combat Skills offer a variety of specialized attacks, Active Skills allow you to gain the upper hand in battle and Passive Skills provide a host of supportive boons. Mix and match to create your own unique fighting style.

Training D.U.M.A

Players can gain an advantage in combat by training D.U.M.A.Learn skills or strengthen existing ones by using DP accumulated by collecting gems.

Vatting

D.U.M.A. has access to powerful skills through Vatting. These are special techniques unique to each character. The Vatting gauge will fill up as you perform actions in battle; once it reaches its max, you can unleash devastating abilities. Carefully utilize your characters’ powerful offensive and recovery expertise to turn the tide of battle.

VA Barrier

Players can also activate a barrier that nullifies incoming attacks by holding the VA button during combat. This barrier can even repel attacks and make enemies flinch.

Estery Cage

D.U.M.A. can also be detached from the player character, allowing it to provide various status-enhancing effects to the whole party which is called the Estery Cage. The Estery Cage increases allies’ defenses, reducing the damage they receive. However, the party cannot use VA or Vatting while the Estery Cage is in effect, nor will the VA gauge accumulate. Though situational, this defensive measure does have its uses.
