Square Enix have announced The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, a new HD-2D action RPG coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC through Steam and Microsoft Store.
The game was first shown during Nintendo Direct in July and comes from the creators behind popular titles like Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default. This marks the first time the signature HD-2D visual style will be combined with action-adventure gameplay instead of traditional turn-based combat.
Players take on the role of Elliot, an adventurer who teams up with a fairy sidekick named Faie. The story takes place in the Kingdom of Huther, the last safe place for humans on a continent filled with dangerous beast tribes. The kingdom stays protected behind a magical barrier, but when mysterious ancient ruins are discovered, Elliot and Faie venture outside to explore.
The game promises to blend exploration with action-based battles, where players can use strategic support abilities from their fairy companion. The adventure will span both the untamed continent and its thousand-year history as players uncover the world’s mysterious past.

A special “Debut Demo” is now available exclusively on Switch 2 through the Nintendo eShop. This demo lets players try out the game’s exploration and battle systems before the full release. Square Enix plans to release a survey about the demo at a later date to gather player feedback. No release date has been announced yet for The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales.
