Sony may be preparing to make one of its most consumer-friendly moves yet. A new discovery on the PlayStation Store has sparked renewed excitement among fans, fueling speculation that cross-platform purchasing could soon become a reality. If true, this would mark a significant evolution in how players experience PlayStation games across multiple devices.
New Symbols will be added soon (website & tool), but here some nice new features from PlayStation (yes, some are old, other are unseen):

Sony’s Cross-Buy Feature May Finally Return
The discovery began when user Amethxst spotted a “Cross-Buy” label on the PS5 Store interface. French outlet Dealabs later confirmed the tag’s authenticity after checking both the store code and related images.

This finding suggests Sony could revive its classic Cross-Buy feature. The system first appeared during the PlayStation Vita era, letting players access multiple platform versions with a single purchase. Dealabs also reported that Sony added these assets to the PlayStation Store in June 2025, confirming they aren’t leftovers from older projects.
How Cross-Buy Might Work
Sony has not explained how the new system would function. Cross-Buy could apply to first-party titles already on PC, such as Horizon Zero Dawn or Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered. Another possibility is support for future PC releases, allowing players to unlock both versions at once.

However, it might not involve PC at all. With rumors of a new PlayStation handheld in development, the feature could instead link PS5 games to Sony’s next portable device.
Following in Xbox’s Footsteps
If implemented, this feature could align PlayStation with Xbox’s consumer-friendly approach. Microsoft already supports cross-platform ownership, allowing one purchase to work on console, PC, and mobile.

Sony has taken a slower route. Its exclusives often reach PC more than a year after their console launch, forcing players to repurchase games. Former PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan defended this model, though it has faced criticism from fans and Xbox’s Phil Spencer.
Sony has yet to comment on the new label. Still, the “Cross-Buy” tag hints at a possible shift in strategy. Fans now wait to see whether this marks the long-awaited return of true Cross-Buy support — or another short-lived experiment.
