Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds NiGHTS DLC Preview – A Classic Character Joins the Race

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is bringing a fan-favorite SEGA character to the track with its NiGHTS DLC, arriving as a free content just in time for the holidays. The NiGHTS DLC adds NiGHTS as a playable racer to the game’s roster. Players will be able to race as the purple jester character who first appeared in NiGHTS into Dreams for the Sega Saturn back in 1996.

NiGHTS comes with the Dream Sleeper, a boost-type racing machine designed to match the character’s visual style. The vehicle features design elements that reflect NiGHTS’ dreamlike world aesthetic. Players can also customize their experience with special emotes and sounds included in the pack.

During our time with the DLC, NiGHTS maintains a flying pose while racing which is signature to their character. Instead of sitting in a traditional kart, NiGHTS hovers above the Dream Sleeper in their classic posture, with arms extended outward. This keeps the character’s recognizable look from the original games.

The Dream Sleeper itself has a sleek, low-profile design colored in purple and pink tones with yellow accents. These give the Dream Sleeper a magical appearance that stands out on the track. Players will have access to Dream Sleeper-themed paint schemes in the game’s customization menu. These paint options allow players to apply the Dream Sleeper’s distinctive color palette to other vehicles in their collection.

The DLC includes a unique horn called “Ring,” which references the floating orange orb circles found throughout the levels in the original NiGHTS games. This detail serves as a callback to the character’s gaming history.

The timing of the DLC release on Christmas connects to Christmas NiGHTS into Dreams, a promotional sampler disc that SEGA released during the 1996 holiday season. All content in the NiGHTS DLC pack will be available at no additional cost to players who own Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.
