Square Enix has shared a full breakdown of the next major season update for DISSIDIA DUELLUM FINAL FANTASY, with Sephiroth leading the charge as the newest playable character starting May 26, 2026.
Sephiroth is classified as a ranged Fire-element fighter and comes with a unique ability called Scintilla, which lets him counter attacks in a cone-shaped area directly in front of him. His passive skill, “One-Winged Angel,” boosts his movement speed whenever Cloud is nearby. He is a limited-time character, but players can unlock him for free through the normal Season Rewards track. Sealed Ability Crystals tied to the new season can also drop Sephiroth-exclusive UR and SR abilities.

The update brings in a new type of support ability called Memoria. These can be equipped in support sets to raise character stats, and they can be obtained from Sealed Ability Crystals as well as repeatable Season Reward bonuses. Getting duplicate Memoria can be used to uncap and strengthen them further.
A new consumable item called the Golden Hourglass is also being added. Each one reduces the unlock timer on Sealed Ability Crystals by five minutes. Players can earn up to seven Golden Hourglasses per win, though there is a daily cap tied to 15 victories across battle modes outside of Custom Battles. On June 2, ranked play is getting an update with the addition of a new tier called Ultima rank. Players who are currently at Omega rank and above will be reset down to Diamond in future seasons. The change is aimed at improving matchmaking balance for lower-ranked players.
Three new Challenge Battles are being added, each rewarding character-exclusive UR abilities and Job Medals. Alongside that, a Friend Invite Event runs from May 26 through June 29, where players can earn up to 9,999 MogPay Points by inviting eligible new or low-rank players to the game. The update also brings in a handful of extra bonuses for the season, including login rewards with draw tickets, upgraded Boost Pass rewards, daily missions for Growth Eggs, and new event missions starting June 2.
Two new UR abilities are available for a limited time:
- “Aerith / Planet’s Protection,” illustrated by teffish
- “Tifa / Falling Crane,” illustrated by Miki Yamashita
Square Enix gave a partial look at what is ahead for the game. Final Fantasy X-themed content featuring a new boss and stage is planned for June 2026. That will be followed by Final Fantasy VI content in July and Final Fantasy V content in August.
