The company also confirmed a name change to SEGA Football Club Champions 2026 to align with the new release schedule. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC via Steam, iOS, and Android.

According to SEGA, the delay was a direct result of feedback gathered from the closed beta test conducted in August. Players highlighted several areas that needed refinement, including gameplay balance, feature depth, and overall polish. SEGA stated that the additional development time will be used to enhance quality, fine-tune core systems, and introduce new content before launch.

SEGA Football Club Champions 2026 builds on the foundation of SEGA’s long-standing partnership with Football Manager developer Sports Interactive. The game aims to merge accessible mobile-style play with the strategic depth that Football Manager is known for. Players can build teams, develop tactics, and compete online in both casual and ranked modes, creating a hybrid experience between simulation and competitive management.

The title is designed as a free-to-play experience with optional microtransactions, though SEGA has assured players that the game will prioritise balance and fair competition.
