MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls launched on PC and PlayStation 5 last week, but the PC version has run into serious problems since day one. While PS5 players say the game is running smoothly, PC users have reported ongoing technical issues, and the backlash has been loud enough that even a well known fighting game community creator decided to stop playing it altogether.
Maximilian Christiansen, known online as Maximilian Dood, is one of the most recognized voices in the fighting game community. After spending just two days with the PC version, he uninstalled the game live on stream during an August 7 broadcast titled “Last day with PC version, sheesh.” He described the PC port as “really s**t” and said the technical problems were taking away from the experience.
“This is bad, chat. I don’t think I can play this anymore,” he said. “It’s making me like the game significantly less. The game is un-fun when we have to deal with all this. It’s un-fun. It’s fun coming up with solutions and stuff like that to issues, to combat, but you can’t do anything. You just have to watch it stutter like crazy.”

The frustration among PC players has also shown up on the game’s Steam page. Reviews dropped quickly after launch, with the game falling to 41% positive in all languages, giving it a Mixed rating. Arc System Works said it would look into the reported issues, but the numbers have gotten worse since then.

In contrast, the PlayStation 5 version has been working well for him. He hosted a separate stream titled “PS5 version works, thank god” to share his experience on console. In a follow-up post on X, formerly known as Twitter, he wrote that his matches on PS5 were smooth even with a weaker connection, adding that he plans to avoid the PC version completely until its issues are addressed.
Tried Tokon on PS5 against only PS5 players and had a wonderful time. Even with 3 bar, 100+ ms, matches were smooth. Just going to stay away from the PC version completely until things get figured out.

As of now, there is no confirmed timeline from Arc System Works on when a fix for the PC version might arrive. For players who were hoping to jump into MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls on PC, the console version currently stands as the more stable way to experience the game.
