The ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1 is one of the best smartphones of its series that caters mostly to mobile gamers. Previously, we’ve received the ZenFone Max Pro M1 that is equipped with 3GB of RAM. We’ve tested the phone and game on it to test its limit for our review. The smartphone at RM 699 is pretty good for playing most of the games out there but we’ve just recently received the UPDATED VERSION which gives the phone an astonishing boost of 6GB RAM at the price of RM 999.

As this is just an UPDATED VERSION of the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1, the specifications of the phone is still the same except for the RAM from 3GB to 6GB. With the extra 3GB of RAM, we’ve decided to test out the phone for gaming once again and see if there’s any improvements on its performance in gaming.

The Comparison

We’ve played PUBG Mobile on it and the match went on for 30 minutes and won our hard-earned Chiken Dinner. When we started playing it, the battery was at 98% and it ended up at 85% after the match. The phone was also not hot at all – warm at least but that’s also because your hand is always there so it’s just really normal for that.

We’ve also tested other games like Asphalt 9, Arena of Valor and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. The games played smoothly as expected. The only difference is that the battery lasts longer now which allows you to play your games longer before your next charge. Thanks to the extra 3GB of RAM, the processing speeds of the device is faster now which consumes less energy as the load was spread out to the high RAM. So there’s really no lag or drop in frame rates as I was playing games on it. I wouldn’t be able to get Chicken Dinner if there were lags would it?

The Verdict

Overall, the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1 upgraded version of 6GB RAM is of course better than its 3GB brother. It has the power of RAM to boost your games processing needs. Due to that, the battery lasts longer and your games run smoother as there’s enough RAM to share the load. For the price of RM 999, it’s a great budget phone for gaming if you’re looking for one! If you are on a tight budget, the 3GB RAM one is priced at RM 699 which also allows you to play your games pretty smoothly as well.
