Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem is steadily drawing attention, and director Koshi Nakanishi has finally addressed one of the most persistent fan theories: the identity of the mysterious stalker monster chasing protagonist Grace and whether or not it is Lisa Trevor in an interview. For more details you can read our preview of the game here.
Not Lisa Trevor After All
Since preview footage surfaced, fans speculated that the towering creature might be linked to Lisa Trevor, the tragic figure from the Resident Evil remake. Its chilling voice fueled theories online, with many assuming it was a direct callback.

Nakanishi, however, put those rumors to rest in an interview with Denfaminicogamer. “Actually, the current version of the creature’s voice isn’t the final version yet. To be completely honest, we’re using Lisa’s voice as a base for temporary audio,” he revealed. He even joked, “Feel free to use this as your article headline: It Actually Wasn’t Lisa.”

This clarification should ease debates within the fan community. It confirms the stalker will carve out its own identity in the franchise rather than rehashing an existing character.
Development Scale and Gameplay Highlights
While the stalker rumor dominated discussion, Nakanishi also touched briefly on other aspects of Requiem. The game involves a team of 150–200 staff members, showing how large modern Resident Evil projects have become.

Players will also have the option to switch between first-person and third-person views. This feature balances intense horror with more accessible gameplay.

Nakanishi reassured fans that combat and resource management remain central. Grace will eventually wield weapons, including some new ones not yet revealed. He also noted that heavy equipment will affect her animations, adding realism to her survival journey.
Looking Ahead
Beyond Requiem, Nakanishi reflected on horror gaming’s evolution. He pointed to VR, advanced rendering, and multiplayer as drivers of change. Still, he emphasized that the “essence of fear” remains unchanged, even as technology reshapes the genre.

Producer Masato Kumazawa echoed this commitment, promising a memorable numbered entry. Nakanishi kept his goal simple: “Making a scary and fun Biohazard—that’s all.”
The Stalker’s Own Legacy

With rumors finally settled, fans can look forward to a new nightmare entirely separate from Lisa Trevor. The stalker may not carry the same tragic backstory, but Nakanishi hints it will still leave players unsettled when Resident Evil Requiem arrives.
