Publisher WEMADE MAX Co. Ltd and developer MADNGINE have officially unveiled their upcoming open-world action RPG, Project TAL, which is set to arrive on PC and consoles in 2027.
Inspired by Korean mythology and traditional Tal masks, the game promises an emotional and cinematic experience. It reimagines ancient folklore into a modern fantasy adventure built on next-generation visuals and gameplay.
An Epic Tale Rooted in Korean Mythology

Set in a vast, beautifully rendered world, Project TAL draws heavily from Korea’s traditional Tal masks and the folklore surrounding them. The developers aim to merge cultural storytelling with cutting-edge design, creating a universe that feels both mystical and authentic.

At its core, the story follows a journey of healing in a land torn by despair. Meanwhile, the narrative balances emotional depth with thrilling action, ensuring players experience both heartfelt storytelling and cinematic intensity. Through this blend of myth and battle, Project TAL strives to deliver an RPG experience that feels uniquely Korean yet globally resonant.
Fast-Paced Combat and Dynamic Companions
The announcement trailer showcases the game’s fluid, high-energy combat. Players can leap onto massive beasts, strike weak points, and chain skill combos to shift the flow of battle. As a result, every encounter feels fast, strategic, and rewarding, with timing and precision playing key roles in success.

However, players will not be fighting alone. Project TAL introduces a distinctive companion system that adapts to the player’s style and the environment. Each companion features unique abilities, personalities, and combat roles — from defensive guardians and supportive healers to ranged and magical fighters.

Moreover, the trailer highlights several moments of seamless cooperation. In one sequence, the player catches a falling ally mid-battle. In another, a companion conjures a magical barrier to deflect attacks. These dynamic exchanges emphasize the teamwork that defines Project TAL’s combat philosophy.
A Vision for a Global AAA Experience

According to Sohn Myun-seok, CEO of WEMADE MAX, the project merges emotional storytelling with exhilarating gameplay. “Project TAL blends an emotionally resonant story about healing a wounded world with the fast-paced combat of a classic action RPG,” Sohn said. “With MADNGINE’s technical expertise and artistic vision, we’re creating a AAA open-world title built to compete on a global stage.”

In addition, the development team at MADNGINE brings strong experience in Unreal Engine 5. The studio previously launched Night Crows in 2023 and later expanded into multi-project production. Consequently, the team now focuses on building technically advanced and narratively rich titles that can stand among the world’s leading AAA productions.
What to Expect from Project TAL
Project TAL introduces gameplay systems that enhance both immersion and strategy. Players can climb towering monsters to unleash devastating attacks or exploit enemy weaknesses to turn the tide. In addition, they can perform counterattacks and powerful combos in tandem with their companions for greater impact.

The environments take inspiration from traditional Korean landscapes and architecture, encouraging exploration and discovery. Furthermore, its emotional storytelling, real-time teamwork mechanics, and rich cultural setting promise an RPG experience that bridges myth and modernity.
Project TAL is currently in development for PC and consoles, with a global release planned for 2027.
