Each team brought their own flavor to the conversations, revealing the competitive spirit that has brought them to this stage of the tournament.

Team Dynamics and Preparation

Helios Team from Indonesia showcased their unique approach to team chemistry, emphasizing the importance of staying calm during matches. “I think to keep calm is very important for us even when we are losing or winning. Because if we are too hyped, we usually take a bad decision,” explained a team representative. The team expressed their primary goal is simply to play as many games as possible, viewing each match as an opportunity to improve.

123 Gaming from Mongolia, featuring experienced players like Narman and Fortunesoul, formed just two weeks before the tournament. “We gathered the same five teams on the two weeks before the tournament. So we weren’t really expecting that much, but we also didn’t really give up on ourselves,” they shared. Their drafting strategy stands out for its democratic approach, with no designated captain – “On the drafting part, there is no captain or such thing… We want to just pass them and have moments in the game.”

Cultural Diversity and Team Spirit

Myth Avenue Gaming brings a unique multicultural dimension to the tournament as the only team with multinational members. When asked about potential language barriers, they confidently stated, “I don’t think there’s an advantage, but looking at our players’ own, like, individual players, it is an advantage because we are very good.” The team communicates effectively in English, with one member noting, “I think because we use English for our communication, and then I think our English is pretty good.”

Semifinal Matchups and Predictions

The semifinal matchups have generated confident predictions from both sides. Ivory, representing the Philippines, expressed strong confidence in facing Myth Avenue Gaming: “What we think about the opponents is, I think we are competent enough to win. And actually, we are comfortable against them because they are our close friends all of them… But for sure, we are going to win.” MAG responded to Ivory’s prediction of a convincing 2-0 victory with characteristic swagger: “I think they are delusional. So, we don’t know what’s going to happen, but convincing 2-0, I think maybe in their sleep tonight.”

Regional Pride and Rankings

An interesting debate emerged regarding regional DOTA 2 strength in APAC. Helios Team ranked the regions decisively: “Indonesia, number one, I think. Second is Philippines, maybe? The second one is Philippines, I think, and the third one is Malaysia. No offense, guys.” However, Myth Avenue Gaming offered a contrasting view: “I would say Malaysia would be the first, but why are all the teams so delusional right now? So, second is Philippines, and the third is Vietnam. And then I’ll say Mongolian and then Indonesia.”

Tournament Stakes

Beyond the competition itself, teams are eyeing different prizes. Myth Avenue Gaming particularly emphasized the importance of the shield: “I believe it’s the shield that’s more important because right here, Bob also second place two times already. So, shield is definitely important.” Teams also acknowledged the MVP voting’s importance, with one team encouraging supporters: “I think there’s another prize that we all can take part in, the MVP. Make sure, go and vote. Ask your friends, ask your families to vote.”
