Malaysia-based indie game studio Persona Theory Games has allegedly been accused of sexual harassment and workplace misconduct.

The accusations were made following the studios’ co-founder Saqina Latif’s nomination of a Future Class candidate during The Game Awards made by Twitter user JLicious, saying that the mistreatment was targeted towards an intern who had been working at the company previously.

In a Reddit thread four months ago regarding the Malaysian video game industry, a Reddit user had spoken about their experiences interning remotely at Persona Theory Games, detailing the various incidents they had encountered.

The user mentioned that they were sexually harassed and had reported it to their supervisor, but no actions were taken.

Another user in the same thread also shared their experiences working at the game studio, stating that “there was harassment”, “long threatening messages on Discord at 2am”, and “pointlessly long meetings where nothing gets done because one male lead wanted things done his way and his way only despite constantly asking us for feedback and contributions.”

Several Twitter users had also spoken up about their past experiences at Persona Theory Games following the accusations.

We have previously reached out to Persona Theory Games (15th August 2023) and they have mentioned that the person in suspicion had resigned prior and have not been working at the company for the last few months.

We are currently in the midst of collecting evidence and are working towards reporting our findings and will be updating this post when new developments arrive.
