The developers of the popular climbing game Peak are not happy about a copycat version on Roblox. They’re so upset that they’d rather have people illegally download their real game than play the knock-off. The clone in question is called “Cliff,” made by a Roblox developer called PewStudio. Cliff calls itself “a challenging climbing game where even the smallest mistake can be your downfall” – which sounds very similar to Peak’s concept.
Aggro Crab Games, one of the studios behind Peak, made their feelings clear on social media. They tweeted that they would “rather you pirate our game than play this microtransaction-riddled Roblox slop ripoff.”

The biggest problem isn’t just that Cliff copies Peak’s gameplay. The artwork looks almost identical too. When you compare the promotional images side by side, they’re remarkably similar – both show a lone climber on a mountain with similar color schemes and style.
What really bothers Peak’s developers, though, are the microtransactions. While Peak is a one-time purchase, Cliff tries to make money through in-game purchases. Players can buy items like a climbing pickaxe for 200 Robux (Roblox’s virtual currency), a parrot companion for 49 Robux, or a golden apple for 129 Robux.

Peak became a huge surprise hit when it launched on PC in June 2024. It consistently ranks in Steam’s top 15 most-played games and has sold over 2 million copies. Cliff currently has over 7,000 active players and nearly 60,000 favorites from Roblox users. The game copies many specific details from Peak, including the third-person hub area, first-person climbing mechanics, and even small details like luggage at the starting point and square stone columns.
