Following its successful December 2024 launch in Japan, NIS America has made the demo for Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero available to western audiences on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch platforms.
The demo gives players access to the first two chapters of this ocean-world adventure, with the added benefit that progress can be transferred to the full game upon release. Players will step into the role of Marona, a young protagonist with the unique ability to communicate with Phantoms. Set in the world of Ivoire, the game follows Marona and her companion Apricot as they work to gather a legendary crew to combat an invasion of ghost ships known as the Shipwreck Fleet.

The game distinguishes itself in the strategy RPG genre with its innovative gridless combat system. Players can utilize the “Confine” system to summon Phantom squad members by binding their souls to various objects on the battlefield. Each object choice influences the Phantom’s statistics, adding a layer of tactical depth to every encounter. The system extends further with “Confire,” allowing Phantoms to combine with special gadget items to execute powerful, albeit slower, attacks. Players can also access unique abilities through “Confriend,” a mechanic that enables Marona to transform by merging with Phantoms.

Moreover, the full version of Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero is scheduled for a worldwide release on January 30 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. PC players will be able to access the game via Steam in spring 2025.
