Chinese developer San San Er Chuan has revealed On the Edge, a turn-based RPG for PC based on the animated series of the same name. The game does not have a release date yet.
The game takes place in the same world as the On the Edge animation (known as Zhen Dao Ge or 枕刀歌 in Chinese), but features a new main character and an original story. While the game introduces fresh narrative elements, it keeps ties to characters from the animation and follows traditional Wuxia themes and visual style.

Built using Unreal Engine 5, On the Edge is being made by the same team that created the animated series. The studio describes it as a premium, single-player experience with realistic 3D graphics and a combat system focused on turn-based action. Early footage shows martial arts combat that aims to capture the movement and energy typically seen in action games, but presented through a turn-based format. The developers are working to make the fighting sequences visually dynamic despite the slower pace of RPG-style turns.
Development started in early 2025, so the project is still in its beginning stages. The game and animation share the same setting but happen in different time periods, and each story can stand on its own without requiring knowledge of the other.
