Capcom has announced plans to extend the Monster Hunter Wilds beta testing period for PS5 players in response to the recent PlayStation Network outage. This is to compensate players who were unable to participate in the scheduled open beta test this weekend due to widespread PSN service issues.
In a statement shared on social media, Capcom acknowledged the disruption and expressed gratitude for players’ patience: “PS5 hunters, thanks for your patience and understanding during this weekend’s PSN service issues.” The company revealed it is considering adding an extra 24 hours to Open Beta Test 2 (OBT2), though specific timing details have not yet been announced.
PS5 hunters, thanks for your patience and understanding during this weekend’s PSN service issues. To account for reduced OBT2 play time due to the outage, we are considering running OBT2 for an additional 24 hours at a future date. Exact details and timing are TBD, so please stay…

The timing extension is particularly significant as Monster Hunter Wilds has only two planned beta tests before its February 28 launch. The recent test began on February 6 7PM PT, while the second test is scheduled for February 13 to 16 during the same time windows.
The beta tests offer important features including cross-platform multiplayer and the ability to transfer characters (but not progress) to the full game. Participants receive special rewards including a bonus pendant and item pass for use in the full release. Additionally, owners of Monster Hunter World and Iceborne will receive exclusive Palico equipment and a Hunter Profile name plate when they purchase Wilds.

Monster Hunter Wilds is set to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on February 28. The extension aims to ensure PS5 players can fully experience the beta and secure their participation bonuses, while allowing Capcom to properly test their server infrastructure.
