Mojang Studios has confirmed that Minecraft will officially launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 27. The announcement was shared on the official Minecraft website, giving fans a firm date to look forward to.
The Switch 2 version will bring Vibrant Visuals to the game as the default visual setting. This feature improves lighting and shadow effects, giving the game a more detailed and lively look. Vibrant Visuals will also apply to supported content found in the Minecraft Marketplace, meaning players can enjoy the upgraded visuals across a range of existing add-ons and worlds, not just the base game.
Alongside this, the popular Super Mario Mash-Up pack is being updated to take full advantage of the new graphics. This pack remains exclusive to Nintendo versions of Minecraft and includes a Mario-themed world, custom music, and character skins based on the Mario universe. Players can explore recognizable locations such as Peach’s Castle and Delfino Plaza while playing through Minecraft with this pack enabled.
For players who already own Minecraft on the original Nintendo Switch, a digital upgrade path to the Switch 2 version will be made available. Mojang has not yet shared further details on how this upgrade will work, but more information is expected to be announced closer to launch. With the release date now set, Switch 2 owners have a clear timeline for when they can experience Minecraft with these new visual and content updates.
