Xiaomi has officially introduced its new REDMI 17 Series, made up of the REDMI 17 and REDMI 17 5G, along with the REDMI A7. The three new phones focus on long battery life, large displays, and durable builds, aimed at everyday users who want reliable performance without breaking the bank.
The REDMI 17 Series is built around a large 7500mAh battery, designed to keep the phone running through a full day of streaming, scrolling, gaming, and messaging without needing frequent recharges. Both phones also come with a 6.9-inch display that runs at a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, making everyday scrolling and video watching feel more fluid.
On performance, the REDMI 17 5G runs on the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processor paired with UFS 2.2 storage, while the standard REDMI 17 uses the MediaTek Helio G91-Ultra chip. Both models support RAM expansion of up to 12GB, helping the phones stay responsive during daily use. For photography, the series comes with a 50MP AI dual camera system that uses AI to adjust colours, lighting, and scene detection, aiming to produce clearer and more vibrant photos straight out of the camera.
Durability is also part of the package, with the REDMI 17 Series carrying IP64 dust and water resistance, giving users some peace of mind against splashes and dusty conditions. Xiaomi has also added a new touch to the series, a dynamic RGB light that lights up for incoming calls and notifications, a first for the REDMI lineup that lets users personalise how their phone lights up.
Alongside the REDMI 17 Series, Xiaomi also unveiled the REDMI A7, an entry-level phone built for users who want dependable basics at a lower price. It features a 6.88-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 5200mAh battery, and the Unisoc T7250 octa-core processor for smooth daily tasks. The phone also includes a 13MP AI camera, Wet Touch Technology for better touchscreen response when wet, and a design available in a few different colour options.
