Marvel Rivals is gearing up for a major collaboration with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), with new content rolling out over the next eight months. Developer NetEase Games shared a roadmap titled “The Path to Doomsday,” teasing updates inspired by the Avengers films leading up to the release of Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, 2026.
Loki Mode Kicks Off the Crossover

The collaboration kicks off in April with a limited-time game mode based on 2012’s The Avengers. This asymmetrical PvP mode will have one player controlling Loki against six opposing heroes. Loki will wield a unique skill set, including illusions, deception, and “powerful Infinity Stone abilities.” Players defending against Loki can summon the Hulk by completing objectives. A new Loki skin modeled after the MCU appearance is also included.
Upcoming Avengers-Themed Events

Future updates for June, August, October, and December remain largely unconfirmed, but fans can likely expect more limited-time modes inspired by other Avengers films such as Age of Ultron, Infinity War, and Endgame. NetEase may also release additional MCU-themed costumes and possibly new heroes, including speculated appearances by Thanos or Doom.
Season Progress and Player Stats

Marvel Rivals is currently in its sixth season, with the seventh set to begin on March 20. Recent additions Deadpool and Elsa Bloodstone bring the playable hero count to 47. While SteamDB reports a 24-hour peak of 90,000 players, this is below the all-time peak of 644,000, and competition from Overwatch’s rebrand has made the market more contested. Nevertheless, NetEase aims to keep Marvel Rivals competitive with high-profile events like this Avengers crossover.
MCU Skins and Crossover History

Since launch, Marvel Rivals has hosted multiple MCU crossovers, mostly through alternate skins. Over 25 MCU-inspired skins are currently available, including costumes based on The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Thunderbolts, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
A Roadmap Leading to Doomsday

With an ambitious roadmap, MCU-themed gameplay, and the potential for new heroes and skins, Marvel Rivals is setting the stage for one of its biggest events yet, culminating in the release of Avengers: Doomsday later this year.
