Everstone Studio has confirmed that its Hidden Mountain Expansion for Where Winds Meet will launch on July 23 (UTC). The update marks what the developers are calling the start of “Where Winds Meet 2.0,” bringing a large-scale content update built around a new “Eastern Steampunk” style.
The Hidden Mountain region is described as a multi-dimensional playground that mixes underwater areas, underground palaces, tall peaks, and floating sky cities into one connected space. The design draws from the in-game lore of the Mohist sect, a group said to be made up of master engineers from ancient times who turned the mountain into one massive mechanism filled with hundreds of mechanical devices.

Getting around this new area will rely on a mix of movement options. Players can use Lightness Skill, climbing, gliding, and new mechanical vehicles to move across the mountain’s steep changes in elevation. According to the developers, every cliff edge, underground cave, and hidden spot behind a waterfall can be explored. The expansion also adds a DIY mechanical crafting system along with custom vehicle assembly, letting players build their own contraptions and vehicles to get through puzzles and open up new paths.
Alongside the new region, the update brings technical upgrades meant to improve immersion. This includes reworked wind dynamics that create layered sound as wind moves through mountain canyons, updated rock textures meant to show the effects of wind, water, and time, and a new lighting and ray-tracing system built to recreate the mountain’s lighting in more detail.

The expansion also adds new content on the combat and character side. A new Mohist Hill Sect will be introduced, described as the game’s first sect built specifically around crafting and construction, giving its members bonuses tied to building and mechanical work. A new combat style called the Gauntlet Discipline is also being added, focused on close-range fighting with fast combos and heavy burst damage. New bosses will be part of the update as well, many of them built around mechanical and clockwork designs, with some requiring players to solve environmental puzzles while still in combat.
With the release date now set, players will soon get their first look at how these new systems, areas, and mechanics come together in Where Winds Meet’s Hidden Mountain Expansion.
