Marvel Games General Manager Haluk Mentes has reaffirmed the company’s long-term partnership with Insomniac Games, teasing an exciting future for the Marvel gaming universe. In an interview, Mentes discussed Marvel Games’ creative philosophy, its partnerships across the industry, and the importance of collaboration in shaping its growing lineup.

A Creative Alliance Built on Trust
Marvel Games’ partnership with Insomniac has delivered some of PlayStation’s biggest hits, including Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Mentes said their collaboration thrives on “cultural alignment” and a shared creative vision.

He explained that both teams deeply respect each other’s process and passion. “We’ve been working together for more than a decade,” he said. “It was our shared culture and values that brought us together. We’re proud to continue collaborating for many years to come.”
Authenticity and Freedom Across Studios
According to Mentes, Marvel Games focuses on one simple goal — creating great games that feel true to Marvel. However, authenticity doesn’t mean strict adherence to the source material. Instead, Marvel encourages developers to reinterpret its characters in fresh and exciting ways.

This approach has led to projects such as Marvel’s Wolverine by Insomniac, Marvel Rivals by NetEase, Iron Man by Motive Studio, and Blade by Arkane. By trusting its partners, Marvel allows each studio to inject its own creative DNA into the universe.
From Retro Revivals to Bold Experiments
Beyond its blockbuster collaborations, Marvel Games is experimenting with a wide range of genres. Mentes highlighted Marvel Tōkon Fighting Souls — developed by Arc System Works — as an example of this ambition. The title blends anime-inspired visuals with classic tag-team fighting mechanics.

He also mentioned Marvel Cosmic Invasion, a retro-themed project made with Dotemu and Tribute Games. According to Mentes, these partnerships let Marvel celebrate its legacy while embracing new ideas.
A Vision for the Future
Looking forward, Mentes reaffirmed Marvel’s mission to deliver games that inspire fans across generations. “We’ve spent a decade building this portfolio,” he said. “We never want to look back and say, ‘we should’ve made that game.’”

For now, Marvel’s Wolverine remains one of the most anticipated titles in development. And based on Mentes’ comments, the bond between Marvel Games and Insomniac will continue to define the next era of superhero games. For more updates from Insomniac games, follow their official X account.
