Publishers City Connection and Clear River Games, in collaboration with developers G.rev and TAKE x OFF, have officially announced Mamorukun ReCurse! – a remastered edition of the vertical-scrolling shoot ’em up Mamorukun Curse! The title is scheduled for a global release this 2025 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

While the remaster was initially teased during Shooters Fes in April 2024, this announcement marks its official unveiling.

Mamorukun ReCurse! is a modern remaster of the arcade game Mamorukun Curse! featuring widescreen support and modern twin-stick controls, along with the original control scheme. The game also includes original music composed by Yosuke Yasui as well as arranged tracks from the previous game.

This cute vertical-scrolling shooter allows players to use Curse Bullets to change the gameplay’s difficulty. Players can defeat smaller enemies or power up larger ones for higher scores while risking more damage. Drawn from Japanese mythology, players control Mamoru, who must save the Netherworld from darkness with the help of friends.

The game offers a variety of modes, including Story Mode, Arcade Mode, and Challenge Courses, along with alternative costumes and a new Gallery Mode. It also includes all previously released downloadable content characters, giving players many reasons to revisit the game.
