The key art for the Pokemon Championships 2023-24 Malaysia has been revealed and it features Malaysian artist Karmen Loh behind the beautiful illustration.

With the qualifiers for the Pokemon Championships 2023-24 Malaysia now well underway, the key art for the competition has finally been revealed.

This year, the key art is drawn by Karmen Loh, Malaysia’s very own artist who is known for her semi-realistic artwork that comes with a touch of fantasy.

Karmen Loh has been working as a character concept artist in the game industry, contributing her work to titles such as ‘Street Fighter V’.

After switching to freelance, she has also created key visual illustrations for Costa China, as well as book cover illustrations for various publishing companies such as HarperCollins, Hachette Books, and many more.

“It’s my huge pleasure to work on this key art since my whole family are Pokémon fans! As an anime and a Japanese culture fan myself, working on Pokémon is really fun and exciting,” said Karmen Loh. “This is also different from what I usually do, therefore it’s refreshing, and I appreciate the opportunity. Pokémon are created with much love, I hope everyone will like this key art!”

In the illustration, Pikachu, Ogerpon, Roaring Moon, and Iron Valiant are the headliners in the key art, and they are accompanied for the first time by human characters.

Both characters represent a Pokemon game with the girl holding her Nintendo Switch for the video games while the boy has Pokemon cards in his hands representing the TCG.

Aside from the key art, Karmen’s illustrations are also featured on various prize items in the competition.
