On May 29, Kojima Productions announced that Hololive VTuber Usada Pekora will appear in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach as a Prepper NPC that players can encounter in-game.

Her inclusion follows the tradition established by the original Death Stranding, which featured a number of celebrity cameos in minor non-playable roles.

This announcement comes just under three weeks after Kojima Productions confirmed that the game has officially gone gold, indicating that primary development is complete. Although the main production phase has concluded, the PlayStation 5 title is still expected to receive post-launch updates to address any remaining bugs following its release on June 26.

In addition to the game’s upcoming launch, Kojima Productions has also confirmed that an anime adaptation of Death Stranding is currently in development. Separately, a live-action film adaptation is underway in collaboration with A24, as previously revealed by game director Hideo Kojima.

Usada Pekora is a member of Hololive Production’s third generation of Virtual YouTubers (VTubers), a group collectively known as Hololive Fantasy. She made her debut in July 2019 and has since amassed over 2.7 million subscribers on YouTube.
