On Twitter, YAGOO is trending with over 44,000 tweets dedicated to the man’s birthday, who has become a pillar of the Vtuber community as well.
Despite being the CEO of Hololive parent company Cover Corporation, Tanigo has quite the reputation in the fandom. His nickname started when second generation Vtuber Oozora Subaro misspoke his name, and from there he’d developed his own character within the Hololive lore, so to speak.
Most famously, an image of him circulated where he mentioned that his dream was to run an idol group similar to AKB48 – something that’s constantly brought up by the community every time someone from Hololive does something uncouth or otherwise un-idol-like.
This was most prominent with the antics of Kiryu Coco, who built her character around a supposed advertorial relationship with her management for her laughably off-beat behavior.
Despite this, he agreed to an interview with the Vtuber just before her graduation (read: retirement) where he had nothing but kind words to say about Hololive.
Fans have doled out the tributes to Tanigo’s birthday, with various fanart of Yagoo with his signature grin. Some fans have even dug out an old photo of him from a gaming magazine, where he’s promoting a Hello Kitty game for the GameBoy Color.

Aside from that, his popularity by the fandom is also partially driven by his habit of modeling with merchandise the company plans to sell- giving the fans even more material to work with establishing the character of this timid but supportive foster dad to a bunch of virtual anime girls.
