As we mentioned in our review of Red Dead Redemption 2, this is one of the most ambitious games out right now, which in turn means there is a tonne of things to do. Be sure to check out our essential tips write up on what to be aware of while playing. Here we are going to expand on that with additional Red Dead Redemption 2 tips.
Lost and Found
If you find yourself seemingly missing unique weapons and what from your inventory, simply look harder for it. Open up your horse item wheel scroll and look around for it. If it is not there, simply sleep or even hard reset your game to see if it’s there.
The same goes with unique hats that you may have accidentally misplaced. Simply head to your wardrobe and check the crafted hats tab to recover them. Whenever you kill a legendary animal, be sure to immediately sell its pelt and that can go missing forever. Fear not however, because the game still registers you as having it even if you do not physically do. While you will not be able to sell it, you can still craft items with it.
Whenever you find yourself in a frantic gunfight, the last thing you want to do is waste time reloading your weapon. The best way to go about this is to briefly activate Deadeye when reloading as your chambers will automatically be filled up. That saves you a previous three to four seconds which could spell the difference between live and death, so be sure to keep that in mind.
Three’s A Crowd
If you find yourself on a hunting trip with lots of carcasses and pelt to haul back, you can actually have a total of three horses help you with things. The first is of course your saddled horse, while the second, which you may have noticed from playing the game itself, is a temporary one which will still follow you when you call it. The third one on the other hand, is some random wild horse which you are able to tame to act as a second temporary one.
There will be some points of the game where you are required to take control of carriages and may find yourself stuck in the environment. Do not panic as you are able to back up by holding the right trigger and tap X or A depending on which console you are playing this game on. A simple tip, but we have gotten complaints about it.
While the game does include cheat codes, we do not recommend using them as you will not be able to get achievements in the event you do, in addition to not being able to save the game. Should you decide to go ahead with it anyway, it is not as simple as simply inputting them. You are going to have to collect newspaper for them or find them scribbled here and there on rocks. In other words, you have to first ‘encounter’ the cheat before being able to use them.
