Fairy Tail: Dungeons, the deckbuilding roguelike inspired by Hiro Mashima’s series, arrives on Nintendo Switch on January 7, 2025. At the same time, PC players will receive a large content update on Steam.
Developed by ginolabo and Kodansha Game Creators’ Lab, the game combines magic, characters, and card-based battles from the long-running Fairy Tail universe. Fans can enjoy new content and improved systems whether they are returning players or newcomers.
Switch Launch and PC Update
The Switch release comes almost a year after the PC debut. Additionally, the game costs $13.99 / RM63, the same as the original release. The update adds extensive content for returning players, keeping the experience fresh. Fairy Tail: Dungeons supports English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, French, and Thai, making it accessible to fans around the world.
Gameplay and Deckbuilding Mechanics
In the game, players form a three-character team and collect magic cards to navigate shifting labyrinths. Turn-based combat requires players to carefully consider card order, allowing Magic Chains to deal extra damage. Each run gives chances to upgrade cards and skills for the next challenge.
The update also adds five playable characters—Gajeel, Juvia, Mirajane, Laxus, and Gildarts. Moreover, it includes over 200 amulets, 170 cards, 100 skills, 50 Labyrinth quests, 30 monsters, and 20 items, providing players with more strategy and customization options.
New Modes and System Improvements
The update introduces Special Labyrinth Exploration for advanced runs and Labyrinth and Abyssal Conquest difficulty for veteran players. Meanwhile, a new casual mode focuses on story progression. Players can now fuse duplicate cards to upgrade them further. Finally, UI and control improvements make gameplay smoother and more enjoyable.
