The annual Year in Review from Pornhub revealed significant changes in how gaming culture intersects with adult content consumption, with several gaming-related categories and searches seeing substantial growth throughout 2025.
The Gaming category experienced massive growth, jumping 283% compared to the previous year. This surge places it among the platform’s fastest-growing content types, second only to Podcasts at 327%. The increase suggests viewers are increasingly interested in seeing adult content creators engage with gaming in non-explicit contexts, whether through streaming, commentary, or casual gameplay.
PlayStation 5 continued its upward trajectory, capturing 66% of all gaming console traffic to the site—an 11% increase from 2024. Meanwhile, PlayStation 4 traffic declined 5% to 32% as users transitioned to the newer hardware.
Xbox saw a dramatic drop, falling 69% to account for only 2% of console traffic. This shift reflects broader gaming market trends as PlayStation maintains its competitive edge in the current generation.

Game and Character Searches
For the first time in five years, Fortnite lost its position as the most-searched video game on the platform. Genshin Impact claimed the top spot in 2025, with Fortnite dropping to second place.
Minecraft climbed two positions to third, while Pokemon fell to fifth. Overwatch held steady at fourth. The year’s most notable debut was Marvel Rivals, which entered the top 10 at sixth place during its release year.

Other significant movements included Super Mario, which jumped 14 positions—likely boosted by the new Nintendo Switch 2 release—and Nier Automata, which climbed 9 spots. Meanwhile, League of Legends, Apex Legends, and Fallout each dropped 5 positions.
Video game character searches saw considerable reshuffling in 2025. Tifa from Final Fantasy rose 2 spots to become the most-searched character, dethroning Street Fighter’s Chun-Li, who fell to third. Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft maintained her second-place position from 2024, while Overwatch’s D.Va held steady at fourth.
The year’s biggest character gains included:
- Panam (Cyberpunk 2077): +17 spots
- Freya (God of War): +13 spots
- Nero (Devil May Cry): +12 spots
- Jinx (League of Legends) and Ruby (Fortnite): +11 spots each
On the decline were Mona from Genshin Impact (down 15 spots), Ashley from Resident Evil (down 14 spots), and Overwatch’s Tracer (down 9 spots).

Gaming wasn’t the only pop culture influence on search behavior. Star Wars ranked first in movie and character searches, while Spider-Man climbed 9 positions to second place. The Spider-Man surge was partly driven by Halloween costume searches and aligns with increased interest in cosplay content across the platform.
The data highlights how gaming culture continues to influence even in adult content consumption patterns, with users increasingly seeking connections between their entertainment interests and the creators they follow.
