Koei Tecmo and Omega Force have officially announced a major paid expansion for Dynasty Warriors: Origins, titled Visions of Four Heroes, set to release on January 22, 2026. The reveal was made during Japan’s recent State of Play broadcast, giving fans their first glimpse at the next chapter of the game’s large-scale battles and dramatic storytelling.
A New Chapter in the Origins Saga

Released earlier this year, Dynasty Warriors: Origins revitalized the classic musou formula with smoother animations, denser battlefields, and the return of large-scale warfare. Now, a year later, the expansion Visions of Four Heroes will continue that momentum with new storylines, allies, weapons, and playable characters. One of the most notable additions is Zhuhe, a mysterious NPC from the base game who will now become a playable warrior for the first time.
Koei Tecmo describes the DLC as a “major paid expansion” rather than a minor content pack, suggesting a scale similar to the Empires or Xtreme Legends expansions of earlier entries. The story will reportedly focus on the titular Four Heroes, expanding the lore surrounding their roles in the chaotic era of the Three Kingdoms and offering a deeper look at their intertwined fates.
Exclusive Pre-Order Bonuses and Cross-Platform Launch

Players who pre-order the DLC will receive an exclusive Yellow Turban-themed costume for the game’s protagonist, a nostalgic nod to the earliest conflicts that shaped the Dynasty Warriors timeline. In a strategic release move, the DLC will arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and will coincide with the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Dynasty Warriors: Origins.
This dual launch not only expands the game’s accessibility but also highlights Koei Tecmo’s growing commitment to bringing its flagship series to newer platforms. The company’s scheduling also reveals an ambitious roadmap—coming just months before the release of Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered, slated for March 2026.
The Return of the Musou Legacy
Since its launch in January 2025, Dynasty Warriors: Origins has become one of Omega Force’s most successful titles in recent years, surpassing one million copies sold and reviving global interest in the musou genre. With its sweeping camera work, larger armies, and improved combat responsiveness, it delivered a modern take on the one-versus-thousands formula.
Visions of Four Heroes looks to build upon that success, offering long-time fans a reason to return to the battlefield while inviting newcomers through the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 port. If Koei Tecmo can balance the familiar spectacle with fresh storytelling and gameplay mechanics, Dynasty Warriors: Origins might just prove that the age of musou games is far from over.
