Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai: A Hero’s Bonds will launch on September the 28th, 2021 worldwide for mobile devices. The game will be developed by Dena and published by Square Enix.

Square Enix has also prepared a new trailer on their youtube channel.

This is a brand new Action RPG spin-off of the classic RPG series Dragon Quest and particularly based on the anime Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai. This mobile game features both an adaptation original story from the anime, as well as a brand new adventure.

The is what Square Enix’s own press release said about the game upon the announcement:

In DRAGON QUEST The Adventure of Dai: A Hero’s Bonds, players will experience the epic story of the anime DRAGON QUEST The Adventure of Dai, developed by The Adventure of Dai Project (a committee comprised of SHUEISHA, TV TOKYO Corporation, Toei Animation, and SQUARE ENIX), with the animation produced by Toei Animation. Cooperative play will be available for up to three players to work together and strategize to take down the Dark Army on a three-lane battlefield. Players will need to observe their opponent’s moves and attacks to respond with the right counter-attack, dodge, or spell. Each character will have different roles, abilities, and special skills in a match. Characters, attacks, weapons, and equipment can also be upgraded and customized, providing for strategic RPG elements on top of in addition to the exciting action.

Pre-registration is live for the Google Play and iOS app store. According to the official website, the game has already reached 1 million pre-registers. The game is free to play but will have in-app purchases.

The Dragon Quest series is credited as the first JRPGs series that would go on to inspire many others in the genre. While never quite reaching Final Fantasy’s success outside Japan, within the country the series is considered a household name, just as iconic as the likes of Pokemon and Dragon Ball.

Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai: A Hero’s Bonds will launch on 28th September. The 2020 anime Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai based on the Shonen Jump manga of the same name is currently airing.

Dragon Quest XII will also be coming sometime in the near future as well.
