Discord and Microsoft have officially launched a new partnership that brings a “starter edition” of Xbox Game Pass to Discord Nitro subscribers. The feature, which was previously leaked, is now rolling out globally and adds a selection of more than 50 playable games to the subscription service.

The integration marks one of the most notable additions to Discord’s premium Nitro offering, expanding its gaming-related benefits beyond cosmetic perks and server enhancements.

Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition Comes to Discord Nitro

Starting May 11, 2026, users subscribed to Discord Nitro can now access a curated “starter edition” of Xbox Game Pass directly through the platform. The library includes over 50 PC and console titles that can be downloaded and played as part of the Nitro subscription.

In addition to the game library, subscribers also gain access to cloud gaming functionality. However, this version is limited to 10 hours of cloud streaming per month, making it a reduced-tier offering compared to full Xbox Game Pass plans.

According to Discord senior director of product Lu Zhang, the goal of the feature is to reduce friction when trying new games and encourage players to explore titles they might not normally purchase.

Supported Games and Cloud Features

The included game library spans multiple genres, including survival, co-op, strategy, and simulation titles. Confirmed examples include Fallout 4, Stardew Valley, DayZ, Deep Rock Galactic, Overcooked 2, and Grounded, with more games expected to be added over time.

Users can stream supported games through cloud gaming or download them directly, depending on platform availability and device compatibility.

The cloud streaming feature allows players to access games across more devices, though the 10-hour monthly cap distinguishes it from full Xbox Game Pass tiers.

How to Access Xbox Game Pass on Discord Nitro

To use the new feature, eligible Discord Nitro subscribers must open Discord, navigate to the Nitro Home tab, and access the Nitro Rewards section. From there, users can select the Xbox Game Pass card and link their Discord account to a Microsoft account.

Once connected, the Game Pass library becomes available for browsing and download through supported platforms.

Eligibility applies to active Discord Nitro memberships, including most gifted subscriptions and trial offers. However, Nitro Classic and Nitro Basic users are not included in the promotion.

Additional Benefits for Existing Xbox Game Pass Users

As part of the broader partnership, existing Xbox Game Pass subscribers will also receive additional Discord-related benefits later this month. These include monthly Discord Orbs, bonus rewards for completing quests, and automatic discounts on eligible items within the Discord Shop.

Microsoft and Discord have not yet confirmed how long the current promotion will remain available, but both companies have indicated that additional features and updates may be introduced over time as the partnership expands.

The collaboration adds another layer of integration between gaming services and communication platforms, further linking Discord’s social ecosystem with Microsoft’s gaming subscription offerings across PC and console.
