Blizzard Entertainment has introduced the new ‘Gauntlet’ dungeon into Diablo IV with its newest midseason patch.
A few days ago on the Campfire Chat livestream, the developers shared their insights on how the Gauntlet was constructed.
Now with the newest patch being implemented into the game, the Gauntlet is now open to all players of Diablo IV.
Here are the information that you need to know about the new dungeon:
Introduction
The Gauntlet is a fixed, non-linear dungeon that pits players of the same class against each other to fight for the top rank. Players can gain access to the Gauntlet in the Seasonal Realm on World Tier IV by traveling to the southwestern port in Gea Kul.
Even though the dungeon is accessible to all players after World Tier IV, the levels of monsters in the Gauntlet will go beyond level 100. So characters who have hit Level 100 would stand a better chance against the horrors ahead.
Every week on Tuesday, 8 am PST, the Gauntlet will conclude, with a new one appearing at 10.15 am PST.
Proofs of Might
When challenging the Gauntlet, players will receive Proofs of Might by slaying demons, opening chests, and completing events. There are also Pillars scattered throughout the dungeon that can increase the number of Proofs earned after defeating a monster.
Power-based shrines can also spawn. When a boss is defeated within the dungeon, a shrine will appear where they have been slain. Activating the shrine will allow players to receive one of the shrine’s effects, which will be identical each time the same boss is killed in the Gauntlet.
Players will be able to respawn upon death in the Gauntlet but will lose a third of their score each time they are slain. However, players can recover all their lost Proofs of Might at the place of their last death upon returning to the dungeon.
Seals
Every week when the Gauntlet concludes, players will earn Seals based on their final scores. These seals in turn will be used as eligibility to be placed on the leaderboards.
There are four Seals for players to earn, those being:
- Seal of the Blooded
- Seal of the Steadfast
- Seal of the Iron-Willed
- Seal of the Worthy
The score needed to earn each seal will vary week by week, depending on the class and the layout of the dungeon. Furthermore, the scores will scale with party size as well, since larger groups will have a much easier time getting higher scores compared to solo players, so parties will be tracked on a separate leaderboard.
Caches of Trials
Since Proofs of Might is the only thing you’ll earn in the Gauntlet, you will be rewarded loot upon completion, regardless of whether you have earned a seal or not. As long as you participate in the dungeon, you will still obtain a minor cache after each run.
Caches of Trials will be rewarded upon each weekly reset, and the rewards are based on the player’s best score. One Ancestral Legendary is guaranteed when you earn a Cache of Trials, with its rank scaling with the Cache awarded.
Rewards of a lower Seal will still be granted even when you achieve a higher rank Seal, with the Seal of the Worthy granting all Seal Caches available for that week. Players can also earn multiple Seals for the different Gauntlet ladders that are available.
Leaderboards
Leaderboards for the Gauntlet will be separated into several different Ladders, those being Class, Party Size, Normal, and Hardcore.
Class-specific ladders will only be active for Solo players, which means that there are 16 possible Ladders to ascend in total. Your best score across all Classes, Characters, and platforms will decide your spot on the leaderboards.
If you manage to secure a spot in the Top 100 of any ladder, the player will earn a Conqueror’s Crest Mount Trophy.
As for those who manage to reach the Top 10 on any of the Leaderboards, their name and characters will be permanently immortalized in the Hall of the Ancients.
