Publisher MAGES. has announced that Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion will now launch in 2026 instead of its previously planned 2025 release window.
The upcoming horror title will release for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, with the newly added PlayStation 5 version confirmed alongside the delay.

The update was shared through both MAGES. and western publisher XSEED Games, who explained that the extra development time will be used to further polish the game and ensure that they deliver on the series’ legacy of immersive Japanese horror.

In Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion, a new cast of characters is introduced, including streamer Nemu Takahashi and her high school class mates Haruka Nanami and Maria Hitsugi. Hoping to gain more followers, Nemu convinces her friends to test an urban legend known as “Ayame’s Mercy” inside an abandoned hospital.
Things quickly spiral out of control when the trio accidentally awakens a curse tied to the hospital’s dark past. They are transported into a twisted otherworld, haunted by the vengeful spirit Ayame Kirishima and countless other horrors. Their classmates back in the real world search desperately for them, but inside the cursed Amare Est Vivire Hospital, survival means dispelling Ayame’s curse before it consumes them completely.
