Guilty Gear Strive has announced the first character for the game’s Season 1 DLC, with a surprise release of the character Bridget.
Revealed at EVO 2022 today, Bridget will release for Guilty Gear Strive on the 8th of August in the US, meaning 9th for fans in Asia.
UPDATE: Given the reveal that Bridget is trans, this article has been edited with the character’s she/her pronouns.
The character sports a lot of her gimmicks from her last appearance in Guilty Gear X2, with yo-yo based combat including setups to keep your opponents guessing.
Here’s a description of Bridget’s playstyle, courtesy of Arc System Works:
Let’s Rock ! Bridget is the latest character to join the Guilty Gear -Strive- roster! Bridget is an all-rounder easy-to-pick-up fighter who combines long-range attacks, top mobility and tricky moves using a yoyo.
Bridget’s appearance in Guilty Gear Strive comes as simultaneously a huge surprise and none at all- the character is constantly in popularity polls for Guilty Gear, alongside other requested picks like Slayer and Johnny.
At the same time though, given his appearance in the story mode, many fans had expected the first character to be Sin Kiske.
Season 2 is bringing big changes to Guilty Gear Strive- they’ve announced that beta for the game’s cross-play would be starting soon, and the season started with a huge patch bringing big balance changes to the entire cast.
