Fans of Toshimichi Mori, the creator behind the BlazBlue series were caught off guard when the official website for his game studio, Studio Flare, suddenly became inaccessible, showing a “this account was suspended” message. The timing raised some eyebrows, especially since Studio Flare’s last formal update on X had been back around early 2024.
Mori, however, was quick to respond through his personal X account. In two posts, he explained that the website going down was simply due to an internal oversight on the studio’s part, and that it had since been restored.

Studio Flare was founded in 2022, shortly after Mori left Arc System Works. In an interview with AUTOMATON West around that time, Mori described the studio as a place for like-minded developers to come together and make good games — with a focus on what makes games genuinely fun rather than chasing trends or profits.
The studio did share three concept images of an unannounced project in 2024, but beyond that, updates have been minimal. The lack of news, combined with the fact that Studio Flare was established with funding from NetEase Games, contributed to fans’ concern. NetEase had been rumored to be pulling back from several Japan-based investments, and the situation carried an uncomfortable similarity to the closure of Ouka Studios — the developer of Visions of Mana — which became publicly known a couple of months after that studio’s own website went offline.

With the website now back up and Mori confirming that the studio is still active, it appears the whole situation was simply a case of an administrative slip-up. Studio Flare has yet to formally announce what it’s currently working on.
