ARGONAVIS ends AASide service, rebrands into “from ARGONAVIS”

Originally an off-shoot of the BanG Dream! project, ARGONAVIS is now officially its own thing, with a modest rebranding into from ARGONAVIS. The AASide mobile game that launched 17 January 2021 will be ending service 31 January 2022, 14:59 JST as part of the whole exercise. Considering it would have been barely a year since the game’s launch, the project seemed to be so short-lived.

In light of all this, the decision is said to not bring any significant changes regarding the actual relationship of from ARGONAVIS to the BanG Dream! franchise as a whole. A new app is in the works, supposedly with a focus on the story over a rhythm game at its current stage. Plans include retroactively some form of narrative for players who may yet to be fans or just taking a break, while including any developments they may have had in AASide.

As their own company and subsidiary, the various activities such as live readings, performances, and so forth, will continue. The international fanbase has been acknowledged, though fans would likely have to wait until they organize what they have at present. The present cast of ARGONAVIS remain in their roles. Either way, we’ll see if the new game can be available internationally at launch with this larger relative freedom.
