Have you been playing Xross Chronicle? Maybe you should! If you haven’t heard of it, or have but haven’t tried it yet, then here’s an introduction to ease you into the world of the game. Enter a world where a war rages between humans and yokai. You will be the one to travel the lands to stop this endless fighting. Get the backstory below to understand how it all started:
A world where the forces of light and darkness confront each other
A long time ago…
Caelum, the Creator, has created a world by combining the frostiness and darkness of the moon and the heat and light of the sun.
Caelum has created the child of the moon and the child of the sun, hoping they would cooperate in peace. However, these two children never stopped fighting. Their fight had gotten worse over time and the world was about to collapse.
To stop the fight, Caelum decided to split the world in half.
One half was the “Material Dimension” — originated from the sun, and the other was the “Spiritual Dimension” — originated from the moon.
The fight between the two children ended. The one who lived in the Material Dimension was called “Vitale”, and the other in the Spiritual Dimension was called “Mors”.
The two dimensions turned into completely different environments. The Material Dimension became a world full of vitality whereas the Spiritual Dimension became a world full of mortal aura.
The Material Dimension was dominated by humans with a magic civilization and called as the human world. And the Spiritual Dimension was dominated by Yokais with spiritual power and called as the Yokai world.
From East to West, to the human and Yokai world, fight so that you may bring peace to the worlds at the end of it all! Form a team with 3 humans and Yokai each in a party, utilizing the Fusion system to turn the tides of battle. Humans and Yokai “fuse” to increase their strengths, as well as to be able to use the Yokai’s skills. Mix and match to find the best combinations.
Will you be going for balanced Fusions, or do you prefer more specialized strategies? The huge variety of characters means there’s plenty of compositions you could try whatever that comes to mind. With Cross-Training, you that flexibility becomes even more ridiculous as a successful Cross-Training allows characters to be placed in both the Human and Yokai slot so you won’t be short of characters to slot into your party!
Learn more about the characters through their stories. Some even have multiple parts to their story, so see how they grow along with you. You might surprise yourself by liking a character you didn’t initially when you go through their character development in these additional stories. You might not know the Yokai that inspired the character, but by reading their backstory, you might get interested to learn more about these mythical creatures.
With so many characters taking from a variety of influences from the real world, you can surely find a favourite among them. All this is backed by incredible voice acting too, to bring these characters to life. Certainly some people do like to try out these games for their actors alone, where you can find Yoshimasa Hosoya, Yui Horie, Reina Ueda and more!
All of them possess more than 2 active skills as well as their passives, for that incredible variety in team building. Should you want to get a specific character, you can also “reroll” until you get them, so that you can either have your best start, or just your favourite! Despite how frequently players tend to reroll in gacha games, not all of them have an in-built reroll system, so getting something you want is more convenient within Xross Chronicle.
You don’t need to go through a completely linear story too, as you can obtain different outcomes depending on your choices in the main story! Scenario replay is also available for you to see the other choice, offering a level of replayability even in the story. Of course, besides the main story, you also have PvP, and raids. For the former, go up against other players in the Arena and see whose team is the strongest! It’s naturally the hotbed for the competitive players who have their meta picks. Still, it doesn’t mean even the casual player couldn’t go in to find a surprise line-up to climb the ladder.
In raids, you’ll be going up against one large boss. Dubbed “Evil Suppression”, it can be initially a challenge to battle these bosses. If you’re confident in your team, maybe you could try using auto battle, but it’ll probably work out much better if you plan and manually hit those skills. Should you be able to take down these bosses, you can earn unique equipment!
